Beauty reigns. [Part I]

Beauty invites. Invites and liberates.

I believe Beauty is a universal longing because we were created to long for it.

True, authentic Beauty sings a delightful, welcoming tune: "Come. Come as you are. Rest and behold."

The world says coldly: "Come... but only if you're like this. Don't bother until you are. Even then don't count on ever being satisfied."

It is our privilege, especially as women, to be masters of exuding Beauty. When we clothe ourselves in Joy and Light and effervescence (joie de vivre), all may know whose we are.

Above all, we must adorn ourselves with Love, or else our words and our actions are but clanging cymbals. Like flowers in a woman's hair and pearls on her neck, Beauty has the power to unveil what Sacred Mystery lies within each one of us.

What is that mystery we are called to bear? He is Christ Incarnate - He makes a home in each of our hearts if we will only let Him in.

His Beauty redeems. It mends what has been broken. Like a warm hostess, holy Beauty whispers to the wonderer and the wanderer:

"Look at me. But even more, look at what I have prepared for you.

Look at what I have poured myself into so you might be fulfilled.

Look, I have spared no expense. I have laid out all of my treasures, all of my graces.

If you will only partake, they are all yours.

May you know ever more deeply of my abiding care for the safekeeping of your soul."

So who is the Heavenly Hostess who is the principal bearer of Beauty? In other words, who is the Christ bearer?

Her Greek name means just that. It is she, the Theotokos. Our Lady, the maternal mediator.

[More to come. Don't ever forget how gorgeous you are, dear friend. He loves you so.]
