Life is a mess.

Life is messy like an apartment you've just moved into. Everything that is yours is sitting there in boxes, waiting to have its proper place. At your Baptism, you were endowed with gifts of the Spirit in a similar way. There is an abundance of graces and gifts waiting to be unpacked inside your soul so you might know your Creator more deeply and so those friends you encounter on the way Home might see Him in you and come to know Him too.
But sometimes things get in the way of unpacking, friends. Sometimes you oversleep and miss out on those few moments of quiet with Jesus or with coffee (or, in my case, both). Sometimes you are so caught up in your to do list He is the farthest thing from your mind for days or weeks or months or years. Sometimes you feel as though you are drowning in those things as mundane as packing paper and bubble wrap that we know should not hold us back in all their simplicity, but somehow, they become like unmovable mountains.
Sometimes we are weighed down by difficult relationships in which showing and receiving His Love is more than we can bear alone. Sometimes illness, tragedy, and death surround us and engulf what will we have to rejoice. Sometimes we cannot "feel" the Love we so desire though we have a will to seek it. We feel alone. We feel beaten down. We feel like it would just be better to live with unopened boxes and survive on take-out and one clean towel.
And sometimes, sometimes that is okay. He walks with us then, when we are weak. If we need Him to, he will gladly carry us. He walks with us when we are strong and will dance with us when we are filled with consolation and joy.
No matter where you are, whether you have just begun to unpack or whether you have hit a mental block and just cannot touch one more box, He is there. He wants us and He knows us. In His time, we will know it more deeply than any other truth in our lives if we are willing to listen to Him whisper.
Holy Spirit, spouse of Our Lady, flood our souls with Your light. Help us wade through the mess and find peace within it always, no matter if this day is one of feverish unpacking or pausing to take a break and just be with Him.
